CAMP DIRECTOR

Director Rob Thompson (full bio) is in his 20th year with Soccer Dimensions.   Entering his 18th year as the UNH men’s head coach, Thompson understands the demands that are being placed on young players who strive to play at a higher level. As camp director, he places those demands into the daily training program to assure every camper has a competitive, yet, enjoyable experience on and off the field.  Thompson became the UNH soccer program's all-time win leader after leading the Wildcats to the post-season in 2001. Both his ’02 and ’03 teams were ranked as high as #2 in New England, while his ’05 team gained the third national ranking in the program’s history.  His Wildcat teams have qualified for the conference playoffs eight out of the last ten years and the 2009 ‘Cats won their first outright regular season conference title after going undefeated in league play.  In 2010, his team advanced to the conference title game losing out on a trip to the NCAA's in Pk's.  Thompson was honored as the America East coach of the year in 2006 and 2009.  A Seacoast United staff coach since 1993, Rob led his Seacoast United premier teams to nine New Hampshire USYSA state titles, two USL Super Y league re­gional titles, and four USL Super Y league national championship berths over a 10 year span. His U17 boys team lost in the 2006 Super Y national championship match in penalty kicks and was the USYSA region I runner-up. He holds a USSF “A” license & NSCAA Premier Diploma. Rob is currently directing the SUSC U18 Academy team and was named 2008 regional Coach of the Year in the US Soccer Academy League.


 

 

Camp Staff

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Ewan Seabrook (full bio) enters his fifth year as Thompson’s top assistant coach.  Before coming to UNH, Seabrook, a 2002 Oneonta State graduate, served as the assistant coach at Hartwick College from 2004-08. During his four years at Hartwick the team compiled a record of 39-25-13 winning the Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) Championship in 2005 and made its 1st NCAA tournament appearance in 10 years. Seabrook played college soccer at Iona College and Oneonta State (NY). As a player he was selected to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) all-rookie team while playing for the Gaels. While playing for the Red Dragons, Seabrook was on the SUNYAC academic all-conference team and earned Commissioner’s List hon ors. In 2002, he graduated with honors from Oneonta State with a bachelors of science in business economics. Prior to his position at Hartwick, Seabrook worked as the graduate assistant coach at Drury University (Mo.) from 2003-04. Seabrook is currently working with the Seacoast United U18 Academy team as a staff coach.  Seabrook is a Lewes, England native, and holds a NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of Amer ica) Advanced National Diploma.

COACHING STAFF

The camp staff is comprised of nationally licensed coaches with professional, college, ODP, and foreign coaching/playing experience. Current UNH players will assist the coaches as counselors throughout the week.


GOALKEEPER TRAINING

Former Scottish Professional Goalkeeper, Mark Som­merville, will direct the specialized goalkeeper training for the 18th consecutive year.   He will be joined by current UNH goalkeeping coach, Logan Hoffman (full bio) along with an accomplished staff.  The most advanced techniques in goalkeeping will be employed to improve the technical and tactical skills of each player. Keepers will learn the proper techniques for catching and punching crosses, diving low and high for shots, punting and throwing for distribution, etc. Functional training sessions will then test each net-minder in game related exercises. Finally, keepers get a chance to play in 11 v. 11 matches at night.
